Just realsied I posted my problem on here with out introducing myself first!
Hi, Im Paul Harrison from clitheroe Lancashire. I have a Bedford CF Dormobile Freeway, with a later Fibergalss roof!
Had her for over a month now. I bought it for £300 with a snapped timing belt, towed her home then scrawed round various mechanics with no luck.. either too expencive for me to afford or just plain not interested!
Im so happy with the help ive already recived!! keep it coming.. I guess its my round at the next meet.. lol
Look forward to meeting you all.. Paul [bow]

Well Hello again Paul, let me just say on your comment about looking for 1.8L parts and only finding 2.3L, you will find most parts for the 2.3 will also be fine for the 1.8. We have a 1.8L and whilst its not quick as long you treat it as a leisure vehicle and not a dragster you may get many years service from your £300 bargain. In addition you have the chance to meet up with many of the characters on here at the meets which in itself is worth £8.00 a year on card holder status.

So you think its a bargain! I do hope so.. It has no rust.. and looks solid underneeth!
Whats your model?? It has a nice pop top!!

Thats exactly like our interior, does that table fit above/between the two front seats as it looks a different shape to ours, what year/reg is it.
Posted by Anonymous on Tue 07 Sep 2010 @ 20:50.
I practicly gutted the old interior and remade the bed unit! re vamped the entire thing.. Some one nabbed the front bumpers and the chrome wheel trims back in manchester.. buggers..
Hope to get some new ones, then paint her in a retro orange! ;]
Heres what the inside looked like!!
dark and errrr....well you said you like pictures!! :*
Posted by Anonymous on Tue 07 Sep 2010 @ 20:53.
No, I made the new table.. found a nice block of wood in a skip, gut it down.. then sanded loads.. put many coats of varnish.. then sanded and polished.. then screwed on the old desamo fitting from the old table.. it still fits ablove the cabin on an angle.. what do you rekon to my sewing..?? curtains looking good!! ;D

O,k you posted the picture with the reg just before I asked the question, accordinding to the DVLA check that was registered on the 1/8/1972 which means its taxed exempt and will pay for itself in less than two years and you saying you HOPE its a bargain, Paul you have a real find there, well done, can't believe some idiots said you should scrap it bet if you said you were going to sell it on one or two of them would have offered to do you a favour and take it off your hands.

Decided to name him Sheldon as its writen on the roof.. Just given him a good clean and painted the front end up so it all matches! now just want bummpers and hubcaps!
what do you think?;D
Posted by Anonymous on Tue 14 Sep 2010 @ 14:44.
Looks Great ;] keep up the good work.
Posted by Anonymous on Tue 14 Sep 2010 @ 14:51.
Think hes worth slightly more than £300 I paid! currently stands me at £611.. Bargain! lol ;]
Posted by Anonymous on Tue 14 Sep 2010 @ 17:02.
Looks good, well worth the £300 you paid for it.
You just missed out on a set of bumpers on ebay, went relatively cheap as well.
You can always try Adrian Bailey classics for a pair of front bumpers.
Hub caps here, but just over 2 hours to go

Wanted to keep it as cheap as possible.. I only paid £300 for the van so im after a set of rusty ones for dirt cheap!
Ill just paint them up.. ;] Jobs a good en!
Posted by Anonymous on Tue 14 Sep 2010 @ 18:03.
Rusty or sparkling, theres nothing that cheap for these vans.
Me personally I would be trying to restore as close as original, to keep the price, now yours is running, you should expect upwards to £2k for it now.
Posted by Anonymous on Tue 14 Sep 2010 @ 18:13.
wow, thats great! I think ill slowly get it back to exactly how it was then! appart from the roof! Shame tho, I would have liked the red and white candy stripes of the dormobile pop top! :-)

Do what you like with your van, it will make it unique, and theres some good looking vans out there, i.e scooby doo'd and mikes etc.
at least its only the cosmetic bits you need, and nothing that can keep you of the road.
Not sure if its legal to run with no bumpers though, might be worth checking out.

I don't know how strict the English MOT is, here in Holland we have the APK which is actually the same as the MOT.
It states you don't have to have bumper but there can't be any sharp edges which can harm pedestrians or cyclists.
You can always make a call to an MOT station an ask off course.
You can always weld up the holes and make a clean look, ill do some photo-shopping as an example. be back later. ;)

Before with the bumperholes:
And one without the bumperholes:
its just a quick example but it looks all right i think. ;]

wow looks great! pluss you have lowered it! now that looks cool!
Posted by Anonymous on Wed 15 Sep 2010 @ 10:46.
Ha Ha, I love it, if only every job was a quick photo shop to get things fixed.
I actually quite like the bumperless look, might be an idea for yours Paul, a bit of glass fibre over the top and a bit of spray of paint, and the possibility of being able to convert it back to original chrome bumpers if and when you wanted to.
Posted by Anonymous on Wed 15 Sep 2010 @ 11:17.
I like the bumperless front as well might take mine of ;D
im with Spence if only everything was as easy as a 5 minute Photoshop ;]
Lowering always looks great but that's just my opinion, im already thinking of ways to lower mine but im moving into a new house in 3 weeks and i still have a VW bug to finish first. ;D
New motto for today: Drop vans not bombs ;]
Posted by Anonymous on Wed 15 Sep 2010 @ 11:26.
Is it possible to drop my van like this?
Posted by Anonymous on Wed 15 Sep 2010 @ 12:03.
I really don't know yet, im still in the thinking part off how to lower a Bedford van.
But in This Thread is a good clue on how to lower your van.
you can go very low with a car and you can do a lot with airride.
i have had a VW bug that i used on a daily basis and the ground clearance was halve an inch [bow]
