Hi All Just thought I would say hello, I have just bought an 81 CF I think it is a Pioneer, when I say just bought I mean about an hour ago.It looks quite tidy but does need a bit of TLC to get it really nice. I am into Classic cars & Classic campers, I am the Membership Officer of the Cambridge Oxford Owners Club and own a 1964 Riley 4/72. A quick look at the forum confirms quite a lot of reading for me to do over the weekend. To start me off, just a couple of questions for you guy's who know what they are talking about: Is it possible to pull my Riley (Farina Shape) on an A frame (or a trailer)with my camper? I have got a trailer tent at the moment and my wife has told me she does not like sleeping in it, hence the CF. I need to get my Riley to rallies and camp over night. Second question is my CF known to the club it's reg is FAB219X ? Will be joining the club over the weekend, at £8 it's got to be the bargain of the year. Thanks ---------------------- | Fri 08 Apr 2011 @ 21:01 |

Hi and welcome. Look for the Vehicle Weight Identification Plate - on early models it's next to the (smaller) Service Parts Identification Plate, usually on the passenger side door frame - On later models (Facelift, CF2) the weight plate is under the bonnet, on the bulkhead next to the heater box on the right looking from the front. 1981 model could be late CF1 (rounded front end, small round indicator lamps below the bumper level) or early Facelift (angular front end like CF2, large indicator lamps in front wings above bumper level). Failing that, the chassis number on the V5 registration document starting 97- can be translated to GVW (gross vehicle weight). 971- 2235kg (petrol) 97F- 2235kg (diesel) 973- 2500kg (petrol) 97G- 2500kg (diesel) 975- 2828kg (petrol) 97H- 2828kg (diesel) 977- 3375kg (petrol) 97K- 3375kg (diesel) Maximum train weight is GVW + half GVW (Construction & Use Regs 1986). I.e. trailer laden weight mustn't exceed half the towing vehicle GVW. (If the train weight is given on the weight plate it's usually about 5kg or so less.) ---------------------- | Fri 08 Apr 2011 @ 22:44 |
