New Beddy, New project, New ammount of Rust.

Hi all,

Im new to the forum and owning a CF, Currently she Is looking a bit sorry for her self. Heres a few pics of when i bought her.

First time i saw her, didnt even get out the car. Bought her within a few days after.

A MUST!

OOOPS, Make sure your timing is correct!!!!

A little Sanding down revealed an obvious water trap, but nothing hard work cant fix.

Other side, another water trap and again, nothing hard work and a welder can fix.

Most of the Engine components out, engine timing is good and all is well. She was a none runner when i purchased her. The previos owner had installed short reach spark plugs as it turned out. DOH! Installed the correct ones and off she went.

At this point i went off to get some supplies.

As my Previous motor was fibreglass and the body work was already in a mostly good condition i didnt have the necessary equipment to get the body work down to a workable surface.

So i went to B&Q and now have these to play with:

And

Both are EXCELLENT and well worth their cheap combined price of £60.

So after a brief 30 mins of sanding down the Worst of the roof i now had this:

You can just see in this pic, the top paint (some sort of Dulux stuff), Primer, Red paint, primer, then metal. Im aiming to get down to the primer and red paint/primer only.

The sanders are great for this but it will take me along time to achieve the finish i want in a reasonable time frame. So a change of tactic was needed...

Paint Remover. Worth a try i thought.

After 20 mins, the paint had completely lifted from the primer. I then Scaped it off to reveal:

Wow! Then a little sanding down.....

Exaclty what i was after, in half the time the sander would of took, without the risk of burning it out and reduced the ammount of dust i was making too.

So i have just purchased 2 litres of the stuff, some paint brushes to get it on, an angle grinder with some flap paddles to sort out those gutters and some rust remover.

More to come when i get chance to go work on her.
Cheers for Reading.
Regards
Gaz
