Next time I break down, I want to be recovered in that! (I don't think it would quite manage my bedouin though ;-) )

Very nice good job! I love the metal flake paint!

Awwww, mate, that looks lovely.

1. Where did you get those wing mirrors I can't find any anywhere.

2. Where did you get that brand spanking new looking windscreen rubber from???

Top job.

The mirrors are heated "West Coast" design, originally imported from the states, bought off e-bay for a tenner (honest) the pair, think they were considerably more than that new.

There are plenty of commercial mirrors on e-bay designed to fit CF 16mm bars, but they are black plastic, very handy for reversing such a long vehicle but does restrict the forward field of vision a little.

The Windshield seal came from East Kent Vintage Supplies (e-bay again) £60+postage and still it leaked !! cured with a tube of sealer/bonder- Tigaseal.

Finally, I would like to say thank you for all these positive comments, you have managed to change my opinion of the users of car-related forums, obviously CF owners are a bunch of nice people

You've obviously been going to the wrong forums Retro... there's no place quite like CF-UK.

Thanks for the leads on those parts. I need new wing mirrors. I purchased some screw-on jobs from Limewire via ebay. They are a lot smaller than I expected and the glass is not convex. The stems are so skinny that even when idling the mirrors are vibrating like crazy. Its like trying to see what's behind me on a vintage rollercoaster by looking in a dentist's molar mirror five seats away.

As for windscreen rubbers: I bought one of ebay for about £20. Second hand but in good supple condition. Only trouble is it came from a CF not a CF2 with the promise that it also fits CF2s. There is some debate about whether the two have the same windscreen. Some say they are the same, some say different.

So I can't be sure it will work.

I'll check out EKVS, see what they have. Much obliged!

Or wait while I try using a new rubber of similar parentage on my CF2 ... probably won't be until ambient temperature is 30C or so - the rubber should stretch when warm (crosses fingers).

If it does go wrong then I've got a not-so-tired Facelift rubber to get the job done but if I can make the new one work then that's another niggle sorted.

hello Retroauto, welcome to the CF forum from another Bedford recovery truck owner, though mine is a very scruffy example unlike yours. (i really like the colour sceme)

[/img]

this is a photo of it from ages ago with my friends now fully restored Opel Commodore A on the back.

I laughed at the police bit, one day i was waved over by a police motorcyclist, he pulled by the cab window and shouted 'one of your rear tyres is flat' then rode off.
it dawned on me that Bedfords are popular with the travelling community so a scruffy one with characters in oil covered overalls in cab looked likely thats where this one came from and rather than pull us over and face spending potentially two hours booking us for all sorts of things he took the easy option and vanised quick!
