Gearbox

Hi all, extentions don't matter,it's HOW it's used.Enough said.Today I drove Molly for about 800 meters,THere was no major banging.Tommorw I will check her over and take a longer run.I hope. This box semes to run alot smoother than the old one.The small move of the gearstick is strange to start with.Cheers+Beers,Jim.

Hello Jim,
First of all congratulations; it has to be a great feeling to watch it all come to fruition. I know it's been a hard journey for you but hopefully you can start reaping the benefits. A couple of questions I would like to ask is, is there any difference in how many miles you get to the gallon and is your cruising speed any higher? I realise I may have to wait for the answer.

gearbox

Hi Rae,on the mpg,I am hoping for agood improvment on the 17 miles I was getting,it will take afew weeks to get an acurate mpg but I will let you know. With the old box I could Cruse at 50 mph but the engine was reving alot,so I an hopping that I should get 50 mph with less reves.Possibly up to 60 mph if I'm lucky.Again I will let you know as I know.Cheers+Beers,Jim

Hello Jim,
At 60mph the old Beddie is going to be a lot of fun. It has tendencies to want to start to dance but once you get into the rhythm it's not such a problem. On the plus side, at 60 the long queue behind you will be a lot shorter

Hi Rae,I don't know if I have told you, when I got the donor van parts there were rear and front suspetion sprigs. The rear are a double .As my springs were inverted I fitted them to my van as was.My reasoning is as the double spring is 1983 it will be a bit weaker than new.The van seams to hold the road ok,but the front does bounce more than the back.Iam thinking of putting the donor front springs on next.Any thoughts would be apresiated.Cheer+Beers,Jim.
