Breakdown cover?

Hi.. We`re having a nightmare trying to get breakdown cover for our 1978 bedford cf350. Either the companies we`ve tried won`t give cover because of it`s age and or bacause of it`s size and weight.. Does anyone have any suggestions? Help greatly appreciated.. Thank you.. Den and Loz (new members)

I can highly recommend Autohome
They covered our van for years. They started out using CF's as breakdown trucks.

I'm with the AA.

Used them once too. Felt like an idiot when the recovery bloke casually pointed out the battery had become disconnected.

Tried the AA.

Hi Spooky,, tried the AA but they wouldn`t.cover us because of the age and size of our van..
The Drive 24/7 people say they get to you within 37 mins!! Did you find that to be true?
I`ll bet You`ll head for your battery first in future mate..

My 83/CF280 is insured with carole nash, £108 full comp plus uk/europe break down cover. I needed a recovery recently, only had to wait 30 minutes.

Glad you got cover.

I use RH specialist cars division for insurance which comes with full European return to base breakdown cover. Used a number of times over the years and they are pretty good, although waiting times do vary. They use local contractors so the wait really depends on them now RH.

Got insured with Towergate for 130 f/comp but it didn`t include breakdown cover which was a bit dissapointing, but got the usual european cover etc...
My 2 other 80`s cars are with Footman James who I`ve used for years but they couldn`t cover our CF.
Carole Nash sounds very interesting for next year..Thank you for that honington..
Hi Philbut, It seems they all use contactors these days, and have very little interest in getting you going, Ive found they just wanna give you a piggy back home, which I suppose is better than being left stranded. Being unable to plug you into a laptop seems to snooker em!!!
Thank you all for your responses..Cheers..Den
