sliders or slammers

Look whats popped up on ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BEDFORD-CF-mk1-Panel-Van-1972-Sliding-door-model-RARE-/281150513633?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item4175e061e1

What do people think about those sliding doors vs the slam doors.

I reckon those sliding ones are a nice idea but totally ruin the line of the van! They look like they have been stuck on over the top of the other door sitting proud of the rest of the body. Why didn't they make them sit flush?

Id have sliders over slam any day.

ease of access in tight places and the ability to drive with door fully open on a hot sunny day is to die for.

main reason for the doors not been flush was the complex mechanism / running track that would be involved.
they did a slider for the side door but they are like hens teeth.

they never did a 3 door slider either (2 fronts and side)

If they did a side door then the corresponding front door would be a slam (LHD/RHD)

most stop start delivery vans had sliders making exit/entry much easier.

Id love to find a Beddy with a slider side door and id convert both fronts to sliders. but parts are extremely hard to find due to the fact that most have been scraped ................

I think I met the bloke who did this one up at the Earls Barton Steam fair last year. He'd done an amazing job, complete strip and re-build. Looks great, but a lot of money for a work van...
