alternators

Hi All

1977 Bedford cf1

I have an AC Delco DN460 alternator fitted at the moment which is broken, is it possible to replace it with a lucas alternator as they are easier to get hold of

Many thanks

Subject to someone more experienced than me coming along,I'd say yes.The manual shows a Lucas 15ACR & 17ACR being fitted.

yes you can fit the Lucas alternator in place of the AC Delco DN460 alternator,, few mods will be needed to the electrics though.

the big thick brown wire will need a yellow spade connector fitted in place of the eyelet that's normally fitted to the AC DELCO , then this fits onto the bottom terminal on the Lucas unit

find the thin brown wire with a yellow stripe on it this will need blue spade connector on it and it fits the top small terminal on the Lucas unit.............

all other wire's will need to be individually isolated with tape to prevent them from earthing out ..............
