Bodywork Stuff

Me again!

A few Questions:

Are the front wings only spot welded and bolted into place?

Are the two ribbed rear floor sections welded from underneath to the chassis?

Are the rear wheel hubs welded to the chassis and is it better to remove them or the floor first?

How hard is it to remove the fuel tank?

Is it possible to remove the inner sills from underneath the vehicle to repair the outer sills from the inside (and clean out all the crap in the void), and then replace the inner sills?

Are their any tricks to removing horrible waxoil other than soapy water and a lot of scraping/wire brushing etc.

Will my van technically be the same van once I've replaced most of it!

Thanks,

Nick

Looks like it's disappeared in the auto-cull!

First thing to do is to drain as much fuel as possible.Second, use a trolley jack with a board to support the weight as you undo the straps.Once everything's disconnected & undone, gently lower the tank & pull out from under the van.

I'd have thought turps/white spirit would be better than soap.Maybe a hot air gun or even a hair dryer to soften it first.

A few Questions:

Are the front wings only spot welded and bolted into place? (WELDED)

Are the two ribbed rear floor sections welded from underneath to the chassis?. (SPOT WELDED FROM BOTH SIDES AT SAME TIME.)

Are the rear wheel hubs welded to the chassis and is it better to remove them or the floor first? (REAR HUBS SHOULD BE ATTACHED TO THE AXLE)

How hard is it to remove the fuel tank? ( AS DESCRIBED )

Is it possible to remove the inner sills from underneath the vehicle to repair the outer sills from the inside (and clean out all the crap in the void), and then replace the inner sills? ( CUT OUTER SILLS FROM OUT SIDE AND LEAVE INNER TO GIVE STRENGTH )

Are their any tricks to removing horrible waxoil other than soapy water and a lot of scraping/wire brushing etc. (HEAT GUN AND CLOTH/RAGS )

Will my van technically be the same van once I've replaced most of it!( NO IT WILL BE A BETTER VAN ,,,,,, YES )

Thanks,

Nick
