Engine advice

Good day
I am looking for a cam-belt part number for a 1983 BedfordJurgens Autovilla.
I believe its a 2.7 Bedford strait 6 engine. Cf280

If anyone could guide me maybe as to where i also can get a serviceengine manual.
I am new to the forum and the internet so any help would be much appreciated.

But so far the new toy has been a breeze.

Regards
Dennis34

That's not a uk standard cf engine.Could it be a Holden straight 6?

that's a 1800cc or a 2300cc vauxhall (slant) engine which was a standard fitment in Bedford CF,
its half of a V8 engine..

cambelts are the same for both engines and are easily available

looking at the engine I noticed that you have a black distributor cap which means you still have points and condenser fitted
there are a few conversion kits available to convert it to electronic system which makes it more reliable

Thank you Gethin

The guy i bought it from said it was a 2.7 strait 6 but he didn't know anything about this camper so i don't believe what he says and thank you for the advice about the distributor conversion.

I will be looking into that more, there was some sort of water condensing conversion unit that some previous owner had on but they took it off, they said you could get better mileage with that?

But anyhow, one last question or 2: Does the alternator charge the second battery? and is it hooked up to the whole system? if it is it should be a parallel connection? and what is the second battery for?

The second battery is your 'leisure' battery. This powers the various bits in the camper section of the van.You may have some form of electrical distribution unit, the most common being Zig.The panel should be somewhere prominent & would look similar to this.

Your leisure battery should be wired in to the alternator but,it's always best to check.
