Bang it in.

Hi Jason,

Why not bang it in for an MOT as soon as then all you need is to put it on your insurance and put six months tax in it and you can have it parked outside your house to work on whenever you have the time.

Yes - Bang it into MOT

Hi Doug
Sorry - I've just noticed a couple of messages I sent you didn't send... anyway...
I'll be out at the Bedford on Monday for a bit and then all day next Sunday (5th) and hopefully take it to MOT after that.
Any chance you could get the bit of welding done before then and I'll get the auto electrician out next Saturday/Sunday?
I've just taken out another row of seats from an Estima last night - so turning it into a 9 seater with all seats turning into beds...
Jason

Bedford Land-cruiser.

Hi Jason,

I have been down and welded in radiator brackets but the radiator might be too high for the bonnet and may need to be lowered, difficult to be sure without the grill and bonnet in place.
The front panels are tacked into place so it is now time for your filler skills to kick in but remember it is all going to be out of sight so no need to be artistic.
Starting and running well so topped up the engine oil and refilled with water, it is now up to your sparky to get his work finished, and get that exhaust hanger fitted and adjust that hand brake cable.

Rocker box cover.

Hi Jason,

I have another cam-box cover for your engine which will clear the top of your radiator.

Wiper arms.

Hi Jason,

If your wiper spindles are tapered with 1/2 inch nut to hold them on, I have found an old set of arms that might do the job.

Jason's MOT.

Hi to all,

Just wishing Jason all the luck needed to get through his MOT on his old Land-cruiser today, but even a fail will be progress when you look back at where we started from, just a shell on wheels!

Posh garage's.

Hi to all,

The garage Jason choose to get his old Land-cruiser MOT tested is an up market kind of outfit use only to MOT testing motors that are three or six years old, so Jason's Bedford would not have been very welcome on their forecourt.
A failure was expected but they refused to do the test on the Bedford and I would bet they never even took it into their workshop, away below their standard of vehicle and probably shocked to see such an example which might be seen by their up market customers.
So as a result of their failure to test the Bedford we have on list to work from which is unhelpful, I did recommend a garage to Jason where it would have been fairly tested and faults listed no matter how many or how few, but he chose a posh up market Toyota/Mazda all fur coat and no nickers outfit, he will try again.

Hello. Be aware that if you are ever refused a test when presenting a vehicle then you should ask for a written refusal which the testing station can issue on a VT30 form. They cannot charge for this. This will show that you attended for a test and also the reason why the testing station refused to carry out the test. You need proof for your insurance in case of accident or in case you are caught out by the police number plate recognition system on your return journey as the system will see no test and no tax.

Refused test.

Hi,

I know the a VT 30 should have been issued but I don't know if it was in this case because Jason took the van for test himself, he may well have got one but it would have meant much to him he did not say what he had as paperwork.

Chassis work.

Hi to all,

Jason's Land-cruiser has now gone into a metal work shop to have the chassis repairs done, having looked it over they seemed to think it was no worse than anything they had repaired before.
So it looks like Edward the Bedford will be fit for the road very soon and up to MOT standard, might see it at the Scone rally after all.
