Gearboxes.

Hi to all,

Having found out about a guy in London selling off two Bedford Ice cream van gearboxes I bought them and had them shipped north, Knowing that there casings were wrong sided gear levers, but I can rebuild them into casings I have in my spares collection.
Should have at least one good working gearbox out of the two and at £75.oo for the both of them they are worth the cost and the work involved.

Hi Doug
I really don't know what we would do without you keeping these gearboxes going. You're a star

London Gearboxes.

Hi to all,

The gearboxes have been stripped and accessed for damage and both have problems no surprise there then, one with a broken main-shaft and the other with a smashed lay-shaft and third forth gear sincro broken in three bits.
Being from the ice-cream van CFs I will rebuild them into the CF van gearbox casings which puts the gearstick on the correct side of the box.
Due to how scarce these gearboxes are becoming it is worth doing the work.

Progress

Hi to all,

Progress has been a bit slow due to so many broken parts like smashed lay-shaft and a broken main-shaft in one and a broken sincro hub in the other one, just as well I have a good stock of parts.
But some success I have one complete high geared box with new lay-shaft main-shaft and rear main-shaft bearing, the other box will be a low geared one.
And if they sell for £150.00 each it will have all been worth doing.

One box ready.

Hi to all,

The gearbox that is now complete is the higher geared one but I am short of a second gear for the lower geared box so it will have to go on hold for now.
But I have gained a lot of spares and had some time to get them sorted and boxed into some kind of order which makes it easier to know what you have got.
