Meet for May Bank Holiday weekend 24 May to 27 May 2007

Unfortunately I have to work over Easter so I miss out on the meet every year.

I have spoken to Roi and Maurice about a meet in May and they both agree would be good, as the weather should be much better and the days longer.

Now I know it’s only just a month after the Easter meet and I don’t want to compete with the Easter meet. But we could have it in August or any time, what I need is some feed back from all you Bedheads.

I’ve found a small site behind The Royal Oak pub at Broad Oak, 2 miles from Canterbury and 3 miles from the sea (Hern Bay)
Web site: -
www. royal-oak-broadoak.co.uk

The owner of the site will give us a discount if more than 5 vans turn up.
I have checked showers and toilets are all clean and work, the pub is open all day check web site for menu. There is General store at the end of the road; the site is about ¾ mile from the main road so it’s nice and peaceful.

If you can make it the end of August if it is going to be then, we stand a better chance of going as we have a lote happening then we are going to ireland to climbe the highest there as we have done the 3 here so if anyone could help with a cheap group flight to cork it would be handy

I don't want to have a meet at the end of August as it would clash with the Bedford Gathering, but would any other weekend be better?
Or shall we put it off to the future?

Maurice,

As you know you can always stay at my place in between meets as the last time, £1.50 a day weekends free (council charge, not mine)
With free hook up and the use of house bathroom etc. This would let you discover some of the ports and things you did not have time for last year, and Maggie would love to meet you all !!!

Yes, I know Andy, but we are speaking about staying more than 3 weeks in GB between both meetings. That's a big deal. My wife will be difficult to convince to stay so long time away from her old mother and young grandchidren, specially if you add 6 days on the top of it to do the route between Avignon-Dover an return.
Furthermore, I have to sail my boat to Tunisia or Greece (not fixed to date), and this navigation has to be done early in order not to meet all the holidays people crowding the ports with their chartered boats, and for my wife to have an acceptable rate of fare to join me by plane upon my arrival.
I'm just thinking...Nothing is fixed yet:#

Andy, whatever date you fix is bound to be bad for some and good for others. Just go ahead and arrange it and put my name down for sure. You, me and three more made five when I was at school, any more would be a bonus, get into it, Broad Oak is as good as it sounds and I`ll vouch for the beer. Better than the rubbish served here by a long chalk!! And can I wear my tee-shirt as well?;]

Update

Well I’ve been up to the Campsite to see the owner who also luckily owns the Pub "The Royal Oak" (which the campsite is behind) He says if we can get more than six vans he will give us a discount price of about £10 To £12 the normal price is £15.
They have limited hook up's but I think they can do six or seven, but as this meet if all goes well is at the end of May Its day light till nearly 10pm and the temperatures should be getting into the summer mode.
Barbie’s are allowed so that’s O.K.
If all goes well I will have a Mini Bus for the week end (Fri till Mon) This can be used for Canterbury (2 miles) or Hern Bay or Whitstable (6 miles)

Address. 114 Sweechgate Broadoak Kent CT2 0PQ
