Tabitha and us

Hi all,
Silke and I have already posted a few messages here and there, as introductions, and asking for help, for which we are always grateful!

We'll update you with progress here, but we are also posting to
http://tabithavan.blogspot.com, and pictures are at http://tabithavan.fotopic.net.

Work continues on Tabitha, and we have plenty to do this weekend, so we'll keep posting

Will

I was trying to produce some circuit diagrams, so you could all see what a mess we have. However, no luck as yet.

Aside from yet more roof scraping, I concentrated on the electrics this weekend. I removed the current inlet (a female socket) ready to be replaced by a male inlet. I also traced some wires.

I have worked out why our van won't start. In spite of being told that there was a split charge relay, there is nothing between starter and leisure batteries - so once whatever it was drained the leisure battery, it then drained the main battery as well.

I'm therefore currently working on a scheme for split charge relay, and a 12v fridge charging relay. In addition, I'm also looking at a glow plug autoheating circuit. Once this is done, I'm considering adding a distribution panel for the 12v circuitry.

In the meantime, Silke has done a huge amount on the roof scraping, as well as doing the skirting board varnishing.

Hopefully next weekend, we'll have the electrics in a state ready to charge Tabitha, and we can at least get her on the move.

Also, we want to get her in a state where she can actually be inspected safety wise. At the moment, it's pointless, we don't really know what is working or connected.

as for the split charge relay have a look at FAQ above .. it will show you how to set 1 up ...and there is a section on the fridge wiring as well........................

as for the glow plug circuit why not ask Maurice Mouraret as hes fitted a new selftimer system to his beddy .. he will have all the info that you need on it ............;]

Hi Gethin,

I've had a look at the stuff on http://www.kampenwagen.co.uk/Electrickery.html, which looks relatively straightforward (although I can't seem to find red 15A cable anywhere yet). I'll check out the FAQ now while I think about it, however.

I've already got the info from Maurice (he's a real star, that's the second useful doc he's sent me) for the diesel system , it was his posts that inspired the thought.

Once I've found some decent circuit diagram software, I'll be posting my thoughts for both 12v and 240v circuits, so that people can check they look sensible.

I've uploaded some more photos of Tabitha at http://tabithavan.fotopic.net/c1146326.html

As for Gethin's last reply, how much is too much? Are 30A fuses too big? Should I fuse at 15A and use something slightly larger for the fuse?
