Newbie with a Bedford CF280 project

Hello to everyone. My name is Ed and I've just bought a winter project. Its a 1983 CF280 camper converted from a minibus. I'm really impressed with this forum, and have been reading the posts and am already getting ambitions which are way beyond my mechanical capabilities! I've got my Haynes manual now, and I'm gonna get one for an old Frontera to keep my Diesel lump in good working order. If Haynes can't help, I'm sure I'll be posting over the next few months.
I'm just hoping and praying that my Bedford wont rust like my old Transit!! Bring on the Waxoyl...

PS The previous owners think it does 30mpg. Am I right to think they are exaggerating?

Hi.....and welcome.....I get 25+ in my CF350..2.3 diesel....which is a bit bigger and heavier than yours....so I wouldn't be surprised if you get 30 mpg..! keep the injectors clean.....and.....I do try to avoid going up too many steep hills too.....! Alan.

Thanks for the welcome Alan. As to the suggestion about hills, my Mum is gonna go and recapture her youth by taking my van to the Scottish Highlands. She'll return well acquainted with 1st gear I think!!

we spend our summer's up there so keep eyes open for our big green beastie known as Blodwen [painted on the bonnet]
I suggest you think about becoming a full member so you can have a look at the wildcamping sites for scotland. there are a few [hundred]

My membership card is on its way from Colin as we speak. £2 is nothing to become a cardholder! I think there would be far fewer CFs on the road without the time and dedication of the users of this site.

MOT is gonna cost £265. Slightly better than the £300 I budgeted for. Once the work is done I'll be a proper Bedhead!
