Just bought a camper on ebay too! lol

Not sure what the exact specs are yet - gotta pick it up, but it's a CF 250 coachbuilt pioneer (i think!)

Needs a bit of TLC, like a rub down & a paint job & i've got big plans to modernise the interior too as it'll be great for going to gigs in once i've finished it.

Turn up, dj, drink like a fish, jump in the CF :)

Bit disappointed there aren't many photos of peoples pride n joy on here - or am i looking in the wrong place? Would be particularly interested in ones that have been modernised & 'pimped' to coin a modern, yet somewhat unjustified phrase. :)

Heh - welcome to the Bedheads !

For some reason it seems to be the panel-van CF people who customise and modernise. The coach-built brigade seem to restore.. shall we say, more sympathetically to the original specifications.

Ruined coach-built interiors seem to be replaced with caravan interiors to bring them up to date, but they still look.. well, a bit 1970s-ish !

I'd love to see an interior brought really bang up to date, using the latest materials and technology. LED lighting, fibre optics, carbon fibre, solar power, thin-sliced granite worktops, fully integrated ICE, but it would cost a small fortune to do something like that, which is why the interior of most Pioneers look something you could have bought from MFI in 1982

oooh that sounds like a challenge!

i've been advised that the best colour for motorhomes exteriors is white to reflect the sun, but i'm gonna have to insist on having the back silver, and the cab black in order to continue the 'pimping' of this retro beauty!

i agree with the MFI comments, even modern-day campers still look (in my opinion) - DATED. Theres just no style involved at all. Its just teak this, beech that and some kinda horrible brown plastic edging that seems to adorn all caravan furniture!

as for the soft furnishings - my dear old mum is a whizz on a sewing machine & i've been watching enough car restoration progs to have got the bug for it!

i'll create a 'work in progress' thread once i've taken delivery of it.

regards,
nik

You should be fine with silver - if it was good enough for NASA and the Airflow caravans... !

I'm not sure the black cab will set it off that well, to be honest, but it will certainly be eye-catching. If you have a photo (preferably side on) of the van, bung it to me via email. I can perform some photoshop magic and give you an idea of what it will look like.

I suspect campers have generally been build of beech and the ubiquitous brown edging (which shrinks and warps with time.. i've got tonnes of it to fix !) to offset the small space. Interior design 101 says 'small space, light colours'.

I don't agree. Rather than a dreary wall-papered shower-cubicle, I'd have a mini wet-room with the latest laser-cut vinyl, fibre-optic roof lighting and a chrome shower head in the ceiling, rather than some dreary white shower unit, a gently moulding vanity unit (in brown plastic of course) and a fold-up sink (in blue plastic, just to clash).

I'd have dark-wood Swedish laminate flooring, multi-function units that could be clipped in or clipped out depending on what you were intending to do, integrated tft touch-sensitive screens that controlled lighting, heating, etc.

Good use of lighting and mirrors would make the space feel larger, rather than an abundance of badly applied magnolia wall-paper.

But.. and it is a big but ! I've just spent 6 grand in those paragraphs up there, which would buy me 2 very nice Beddies, and you never get your money back on something that done to a very individual style.

And... to be honest.. I kinda like the nostalgia of my van, but if you're going ultra-modern, can't wait to see the results !

Hi Mad DJ - to get to the page for pics - look at the address bar at the top of the browser where it says http://www.bedfordcf.co.uk/mboard/reply.php?forumid=21&threadid=5487

copy the bit http://www.bedfordcf.co.uk and paste into the address bar of a new browser. This will take you to the front page of the group.

You are proboably like me (and a few others) and have a desktop link straight to the message boards.

Maybe I shouldn't say this here, *slap* but if you go into the UK Transit website you will find thousands of photos of vans in any number of colour schemes.
Even if you don't find this helpfull, you may find it interesting.
