Hi to everyone - and some pics of my CF

Hello fellow CF owners. I've been avidly reading threads with interest for the few days since finding you all. So I thought that it's about time to introduce myself and the latest addition to the family. Firstly me. My names Dave, myself and my partner are currently living in Somerset with our 8 year old daughter. I love classic vehicles for their style, simplicity and because they're relatively cheap to run. My latest addition was found on eBay, i've no doubt that some of you will have seen it, as it seemed to be posted up on a few occasions. Normally this does make me a bit nervous but I fell in love with it and after speaking to the seller and then going to see it, I made the seller an offer which he a little reluctantly accepted and I bought her home. It is on the whole in great condition. It has had a lot of repair work done and some is still required, however as far as I can tell they're honest repairs done to a good standard and not a bodge. The interior needs to be rebuilt as it is clearly from a later vehicle and hasn't been fitted very well but all the bits are there and I can rebuild it to my design. The engine is only the 1.8 petrol but it starts first time every time and doesn't smoke at all. The tappets are noisy but I gather that this is not too hard a job to adjust them, in fact it sounds like the hardest part is refitting the camcover gasket

The van was originally a conversion done by a company in Poole in Dorset and is called a Brigand. It has a 'parkstone' pop up roof which is an unusual design that I haven't seen before on any camper. Anyway i'm going on a bit. Great to see that there's a website and a knowledge base of support which I know will be very helpful as I find my way around doing the jobs that need doing. I managed to get out and take a few photo's today so here they are:

.
Just a quick question in this shot you can see that there was something attached to the dash below the heater controls, the holes that you can see are threaded, does anyone know what should go here and if so where could I get one. Also has anyone got any spare heater control knobs that they might part with for some beer tokens

.
In case you might be interested and because I am particularly fond of this photo (taken at sunset on Brean Sands near Weston Super-Mare in Somerset). Here is my other runabout. By the way ot looks much better in the photo... it too is a work in progress.

Thanks again all. Looking forward to many happy miles in the CF.
Cheers.
Dave.

Hi Dave

You have a superb looking machine there! My brother lives in Glastonbury and your Beddy would sure put his VW T25 to shame. I often rib him about the benefits of a Beddie vs VW!! Mines a 250.

Welcome on board, I'm a novice where Beddies are concerned, but there are loads of fellas here who can help you with any questions.

All the best

DaveS

Welcome to the site Dave :) .
I have to agree that yours is indeed a very nice camper.
I do wonder where all those heater knobs go to, as that seems to be a common irritation, but you could probably get any ones from a breaker and fit them on, or make new ones with that plastic stuff that children play with that sets in the oven.

Thanks a lot for the positive comments. I'm a novice too Dave. I may have seen your brother around, it's not a very big town. Also thanks Jeff for the idea of using fimo for fashioning some new knobs but i am a bit of a stickler for originality where ever possible. Therefore it would be really great 'Ed-Don'if you could find some in your workshop. I'm keeping everything crossed

Thanks again for the warm welcome.
Dave.

That's great Roi :) Twice the chances of getting something sorted. Does anyone know anything about the mysterious missing item from the dash ??? I'm still puzzled

At a guess I'd say it was a bracket for holding a radio or similar.

Thanks Allan, not impossible I guess but there is a radio mounted under the dash to the right of the steering wheel which looks like it's been there pretty much since the 70's . I thought perhaps some sort of table which props onto the engine cover to give a flat surface, maybe even with cup holders Had cup holders been invented in 1972

I'll be posting further pics later, but this is a close up of an original brochure from CI Motorhomes, who made the Brigand.Unfortunately it's not clear enough to see what was where your holes are.

Hi

I was wondering who had posted them. Any chance of you scanning them at a higher resolution and emailing them to me so that I can put them in the brochures section (http://www.bedfordcf.co.uk/brochure.htm). They need to be around 1200 x 1740 or bigger. The bigger the better and I can adjust to suit :)

Hi Thanks a lot Bluebedouin / Colin. It would be fantastic to see the information on the Brigand. I found a website advertising a brochure for sale but I can't get any response from them . I would love to see what the interior should be like.

I can't wait to see them
Dave.

I think i've found what should be present on the dash and.... it's a badge. In the brochure section (how many other hidden areas are there on this website ) on one of the pages about the 1972 CF Range here: http://www.bedfordcf.co.uk/br/br19_p2.jpg there is a pic of the dash in the Deluxe column. It shows a badge saying ' BEDFORD CF DELUXE' Or maybe 'BEDFORD CF VAUXHALL' it's very difficult to see. Anyway if anyone has one of these kicking around that they want to sell I would definately be interested. Like I said a bit of a stickler for originality where ever possible anorak on standby[baa]

Still looking forward to seeing the brigand stuff though. Bluebedouin I wonder if you are willing & able to do some hi-res scans for the brochure, perhaps you could also email them directly to me in as higher resoultion as possible so that I could print them out again to keep in my file with the van paperwork. I would really appreciate it if you could do this.

Cheers.
Dave.

Thanks a lot Bluebedouin. I got the brochure pics OK. Interesting to see. I still can't figure out how the bench seats change to forward facing in the rear though. Anyway thanks again.

Dave.

Hi there,

Quick question for you. How did you paste your pics into the message?

Hi Darren & Welcome
This has been covered elsewhere so a search (top right of screen) would find it (or FAQ) - however - I see you use Facebook so they may provide the code you need.

I use Photobucket to host the pics I put in - each pic will have a code (or 3) underneath - the IMG code is the one to use - copy the code and paste it into your message.
The pic will stay in the message so long as you keep it on your photo host site.

I have just looked under my Dormobile dash and its a badge.
Says "Bedford by Vauxhall"
Dormobile made a fancy dash to fit straight on top of the original
