3rd time lucky?

OK, this is the 3rd time I've tried to add to the intro section - it's a bad omen when even the PC ignores you, lol! I bought my 1979 CF250 Diesel Pioneer off that notorious online auction site (!) [don't groan so loud] but the seller seemed genuine, was very helpful and open, it was a fair price, and tho the van is old and in need of some further work, most of the tough bits have been sorted and I have a fair idea of what is still left to tackle. Don't laugh, but having to call out Green Flag on my journey home with it has even confirmed one of those 'to do' items...i.e. the electrics (Something totally unexpected and not the sellers fault). Need to find an auto-electrician in Hants/Sussex I think. Despite all this I am so proud of my van - tho the children have commented that some sort of heating might be nice! That's the van - me, I'm a full-time archivist working towards my masters degree, lone parenting 5 children and in my spare time I'm a genealogist and looking forward to continuing the restoration of my Beddie and introducing it to the New Forest before Xmas.

as I've already welcomed you in another thread i will leave that bit.

funny enough, most of us end up with electrical problems due to a previous numpty playing and messing everything around.
as to an auto electrician in that area maybe a local member can tell you.

we are all proud of our old buses and as to heater any old caravan breaker can supply a gas heater for the van, if not then turn up to Malvern next year and there is bound to be one. i might even have a spare one in the yard.
5 kids - you must be busy [me i've got 7 daughters but all but one left home now]
new forect before xmas a hardy person then...
enjoy the site and don't forget to sign up for card holder and save some money on the insurance and spares.

I think that previous numpty was a prolific knitter looking at the mess the wiring's in, knit one, purl one, drop one style, then hide the whole mess with multi-coloured electrical tape and forget. Thanks for the advice about going to a caravan breaker - are there any lists of ones in my neck of the woods? What's this about Malvern? Sounds good!
Yep, lone-parenting numerous offspring whilst working and studying keeps me from being idle. As for hardy - maybe substitute mad? I've camped for years, starting with tents [still have a marquee size one and all the kit], then as I got older I progressed to a beautiful 22' 4-berth caravan - which unfortunately a friend wrote off for me by reversing into a tree! When considering what to buy with the insurance money my life circumstances changed and a camper seemed a far better replacement option. Brilliant decision, no regrets. I've no desire to get a more modern one either - this has all I need and is a right character. Noisy and cold, but if I want heat or speed I do have a 2.5L V6 car. And to be honest, my Kawasaki EN500 was a lot chillier and louder!
Re card holding - please tell me more.
And thanks once again for your help - it's appreciated.

as a registered member there are certain areas you can't get into. the reason is that you have to upgrade to cardholder and that has recently gone up to £7.50p. this was because of all the discounts now available to members 3 insurance, LPG and other bits too.
plus all the wildcamping spots info are only available to cardholders.
it also supports the website etc [no there are no salaries involved - we are all volunteers]
mad applies to most of us something to do with owning a beddie I think.
Aberyswyth is what i think of as my Home town as most of my family live near there [we're like the bloody Waltons, we own a mountain back of Aberystwyh, Trefenter or we used to, a lot sold off now]
I'm often there so maybe meet up some time.
