Hello to van fans

Hello - I am a new member and just wanted to say hello. I live in Nottingham and have a cf250 that is painted like the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo - hence my log in name. Tried to put a photo on the profile but it wouldn't let me. Bought the van off ebay in September, the previous owners had done the paint job and it's running fine - so far. Really like the web site, really useful.

Hope to join some chat soon but bye for now.

Thanks for the welcome. And in answer to your question yes it's all kitted out. Was the traditional beige colour and has the high autosleeper not over the cab) roof. All the inside is totally original so looking rather tired. I'm doing bits and bobs to get it sorted - Just replaced the rocker cover gasket but it still leaks!! etc. all good fun but I am enjoying the challenge.
Thanks again for the welcome.

Hi Scooby and welcome to the club.

We saw your van on Fleabay and thought the paint job looked as though it had been done really well. I don't think ther were any interior photos so we wonder what it was like inside LOL.

As for the rocker box cover, I was given a tip this weekend as ours needs doing too. I was told that the cover should be through cleaned with acetone to make sure no grease remained. Superglue the gasket to the cover to ensure it doesnt move when you put the cover back on. Then when you put it back on make sure you don't overtighten it. Now I am not sure if this is the best way, and I was going to search the rest of here before attempting it ourselves, but I am considering doing it this way, that is unless the more experienced Beddy owners tell me no too :)

Anyways have fun and happy beddying :)

Thanks for the tip and reply. Actually had success with the gasket having just tightened it up a bit more. We just used some Universal Blue gasket seal which doesn't set but tacks it into position a bit. Then put the cover on and tighened it up bit by bit ensuring those tab bits on the gasket were always sticking out (had a pair of long nosed pliers on hand). I am sure if the air filter assembly was able to be moved it would be easier to get to the engine cover making it less of a fiddly job. Just run the van now and seems preety clear of oil. Thanks for your advice and good luck with. Would be interesting to know how others do it too!

Hi mad-dj, only jusr re-read these threads. Glad to see another Beddy round these parts, not seen any Bedford vans round here at all! Going to keep the van like this for at least this year as my three little ones love it - we've even got a dog to match! Maybe a repaint next year through as it has only been done in house paint and no varnish so has a few run marks; especially in this weather. What van have you got?
