New Member....Old Van
Hi,
Just bought a Bedford CF350 Classic Advantura, Have bought it to travel Europe and if i'm honest am not sure at this point if the old girl will hack it! Just had her away on a 100 mile round trip and not 100% sure if she will make a 5000 mile round trip so going to stick locally for now and see how she fairs.
Anyway...looks like a great site!
Simon

Hi Wilson - welcome to the site. If your van is well serviced before you go it should get you back again. Take consumable items like belts, plugs and points that may fail en route. Remember that if you do have a problem a CF is much easier to fix than a newer van.
Converting to LPG may pay for itself over a 5000 mile trip - and would add to the resale value if you sell up after your trip - I think you'll get attached and want to keep it!

Thanks Dee and Ed-don, she is already growing on me, just the whole breaking down in a foreign country that bothers me but have noted the comments about belts and bits so will get on board with that.
As far as converting to LPG, this was originally my plan but wasn't sure if she would convert as she is still on unleaded with lead replacement. Can I convert her to unleaded? do I need to to get LPG conversion? So many questions
Thanks for the warm welcome

Welcome to the site Simon .
Most Beddies get sold because they are run down and need work.
If you are able to overhaul the ignition and fuel systems along with any other obvious problems, you should have reasonable reliability. There can be a problem finding parts, but as stated, Beddies are easy to work on compared to many newer vehicles, but it can also be a problem finding a mechanic who can fix without computer diagnostics. Enjoy.

Hi Simon, Welcome to the club, I got my-self a CF280 in May and have had 3 weeks wandering around France, and done about 1500 miles runing about England. All told 4789 miles,But i did renew the plugs, points, dizzy cap, rotor + condensor, Also fitted new cambelt, she ran like a dream "and still does" and dont forget to do an oil/filter change,So have faith in the old girl,Ive seen lots of nice new vans not able to go any where, Take the bull by the horns and go for it.(By the way LPG is worth thinking about)
*HAVE A GOO TRIP*:D
