New to this site

Hi all,

I'm new to this site but not new to CF's or custom vanning. Some of you may have come across me on the BUGA site. I'm currently President of Parlour Vans, the oldest custom van club in New Zealand, based in Auckland, and also Treasurer of the Van Association of New Zealand (VANZ). I've been into custom vanning since the mid '70's first with a SWB '73 CF called Windsong and my current van, a '80 LWB CF called Genesis.

I've owned Genesis since '85 and is still a work in progress. I've run up a little over 100000Kms since the engine transplant in '87 with many trips all over NZ. It's running a 350 chev V8, 350 turbo auto and ford 9" rear end. I've converted the front brakes to Holden discs and fitted a Porsche LHD power steering rack. The body is fully customised in steel and the interior is custom as well with twin batteries, inverter, 19" LCD TV, Xbox, sterio, seats, custom dash, consoles, blue LED's and neon. I'm currently fitting Hornblaster.com airhorns and am about to start airbrushing the paintwork.

I was hoping to post a bunch of how to articles on this site but with restricted access it makes it a bit difficult, so if you want to know anything about my van or how I did the engine swap, power steering, bodywork, interior etc just ask and I'll see if I can help you out. I'll try to post a bunch of pics at some stage but you can check out my photo page in the gallery section of BUGA fi you like..

If you want to check out custom vanning in NZ go to http://www.vans.net.nz and see what we've been up to.

Talk to you all soon.
Garry.

Cheers.

Garry, its brilliant you're on this site. I've been drooling for years on your site about repowering your CF with the Chev 350. The workmanship and final result is amazing. Sadly I haven't got the skills to do it to my CF but if you're ever over here please let me know and I'll pay you for your time to repower my CF ! Please upload
some articles, the more the better !!

Dennis

Thanks for the kind words Dennis. I might get over your way again sometime soon. Have a few relatives that I should visit so you never know. One of them has the surname of Harvey by the way. The van's turned out pretty good so far. I'll start a thread in the custom van section and fire up a few pics and some info.

Cheers,
Garry.

Hi there and welcome to our club. Its great to have info on all the things people get up to with their vans and I just love all the custom vans from the BUGA site so I will definately check out the NZ too. Any pics you can upload? You have restricted access as alot of the sections you need to be a card holder (£7) to access. oh and my surname is Harvey too, maybe we're just all related
