Picking up my new Bedford CF tomorrow!!!!

Hi everyone!

My name is Charlotte, I'm 26 years old and I have precious little knowledge of cars, campervans, or indeed anything with an engine!

But hey, I am a fast learner and it has always been a dream of mine to buy a motorhome purely for the freedom it offers, where ever the road allows and heart desires, etc.

I fell in love with the Bedford CF because of it's classic shape, vintage personality and overall cheeky charm. And of course, the size!

I found this site by chance whilst looking at some photos on google, and thought it would be a good idea to join should I ever need to tap into your experience and knowledge of the camper.

The one I am picking up on Wednesday (tomorrow, yey!) is a purchase from Ebay, year 1980, and an LPG conversion, all for only £2800. It looks in great nick from the photos but I am hoping everything goes smoothly when I pick it up tomorrow, wish me luck!

Hope to speak to you soon

Char

x

Ha ha! Thanks, I'm hoping not, but then hey, it will be nice to get some advice and wisdom from other CF owners!

Thanks again for the welcome, lets hope I can handle the drive back from Coventry tomorrow. I'm used to driving stupidly large cars, Toyota Hilux Surf for an example, which I bought on a whim but couldn't afford to run at the time (I'll never grow up!), but I think an 18 foot motorhome is goin to be a whole new challenge.

So, if you're down in Coventry tomorrow, stay off the roads, because I may be bouncing off walls and curbs in an attempt to handle the beast. Ah well!

Char Lottie, just take your time and don't be pressed by anyone else on the road. You will never break any land speed records in you Bedford so dont even try. Look after youself and your van amd you will hopefully have many years of travelling together.

regards - Wayne.

Hi Char.
You will be breezing past me in Liverpool tomorrow. Just sit it at 50mph. Its like riding a horse -apparently. I cant ride a horse so that must be where I have gone wrong! I am just a few years older than you and I think it amuses people to see me driving in mine. They are just so much fun and to be honest they are not hard to drive. Good luck.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. I will take my time on the way back and get a feel for my new man (the camper, of course!) I'll post some pictures on here soon, I can't wait to show everyone.

I'm sure I'll be popping along to club events as soon as I feel the camper is ready for the road, I have to check the LPG connection for a start, I definately don't want to be inadvertantly blowing myself up due to a bodge job with the LPG conversion, which is something that would probably happen knowing me!

Thanks again guys, you have all been really welcoming.

I'll let you know tomorrow how I get on.

I'll never sleep tonight, ha! It's better than xmas!

Char

I think that just about sums up the majority of owners too.

Ha ha! Very good and very true too I'm sure.

The only thing vintage about me is my clothing, cheeky, yes, classic shape, hell aye, I don't walk the dog just for fun every night, ha!

Hi Char Lottie - welcome to the club. Just caught up with all your probs and I'm really sorry to hear things did not go as planned. Don't fret - all of us (I think) have had a few hiccups along the way and they all get sorted. The club is a great place to find lots of info and some really great people who will support you and get you up and running. If you become a card member then there are some great links to parts suppliers and loads of other info. Good luck and I hope things get sorted - keep us posted.

I've got it and unfortunately it's not well, Phil Bradshaw is coming for a look at it next week, had to get towed home from bloody Coventry, it was a nightmare of a day. But all is not lost, hopefully the Bedford Angel Phil can bring it back to life.

Its a bloody good job I joined this site, one of my better decisions I must say.

How do I become a card holder?

And I always stay up till the early hours, I sing in a Rock Covers band, so I don't get in till late - relpy to Mr PendleMotorcycles

Photos

Photos of my Bedford:

They are the ones from ebay, the item number was 250516036861 and though the bid has ended you can still view the pics if you type the item number into search and scroll down.

I will take some more tomorrow!
