Your experience and advice is greatly needed

Hey everyone,

This is the story of picking up my new Bedford (shortened down)!

Collected it, checked the oil but not the water (I am a fool) assuming the guy I bought it off would have managed this general car maintenance before I picked it up (never assume, I have learnt that lesson the hard way).

Got to get to the M6 from Coventry then broke down 300 yards from junction 6 near Birmingham.

There was no water in the radiator at all, there is now no compression in the engine and it is either a new engine required or the head gasket needs taking out and skimming.

Absolute nightmare of nightmares.

The AA towed us home, we arrived back in Keighley in the early hours of the morning due to various cock ups along the way (the AA thought it was a Bedford Rascal and originally sent out Vans that couldn't tow a Care Bear).

And so here is where I need your help/advice:

Does anyone know a garage in my area that could collect and tow my Bedford CF, and is a big enough garage to do the work?

And is it better to try and save the original engine by skimming the head gasket or shall I just get a new engine?

And if I need a new engine, is the only way to get one to buy another Bedford CF cheap on Ebay?

Does anyother engine fit in the Bedford CF?

Please advise me of what best to do.

Cheers guys

Char

x

yove probley only done the head gasket any garage will do a head gasket yu might have cooked the engine depending on how long you drove for dosent your temp gauge work you might get a 2.5 di motor from a transit to fit before you start spending lots of money on new engines get yours taken to a garage and get them see what they can do with the engine
