Fiat Ducato, Talbot Express Gear Linkage

Just bought a Fiat Ducato and it has the common problem of worn gear linkage.
I will post some pictures soon of how we have rebushed it to remove the free play.
If any one needs to fix theres let me know as I will make some spare bushes.

Well the plot thickens,Fiat fitted two types mines the early one which is a lot more involved but not difficult, Drilled the worn hole out to make it round again, machined two bushes and its now almost like new, well still a bit wobbly as we need to do the gear box end, but its 95% done.
I have the new type linkage in my spares box so I will poast that here soon

Thats a great idea...Mine is a 1991, so it may need the gear linkage doing at some point.

Next is to get some 'nice' person to fit it ...

Its very easy dont even have to jack it up if you are slim like me LOL
I am having some prototype bushes made, you undo one bolt under the van, four screws in the cab, then two more blots, the stick should pull out, take the old bushes out if any are left, drill it 14mm, push new ones in and put it back together.
Its less than 1 hours work and you hand will stop smashing in to the dash when you select 1st.
Fiat moulded them from old plant pots I think, mine are top quality self lubrication Nylon
I am thinking of trying a few on Ebay, what do you think I should ask, Fiat stopped sulpplying these years ago, I was thinking of £12 A pair with a new bolt and fitting instructions including P&P? some one told me Fiat charged more than this?
Its not the cost of the bits its the time I have spent designing them and finding some one to make them.

Yours will have the newer plastic bushes so is an easy fix, its only the early ones 87 etc like mine that shave the older style with no bushes which took about 8 hours to repair.
I am sure a local Beddy man would help out

;D

Thanks
I dont know how others feel but I feel its good to have this alternative section.
The thing thats easily missed is we all have the same issues just different vehicles, and quite often some one here will know the answer
