Hi Folks and thanks for all the replies! We have been travelling since Sept and have been to lots of places - East Coast, Stonehenge, Hatfield, Lymington, IoW and have been in Lincolnshire for about 3 weeks - hopefully - once the van is sorted, we will be heading back down south again and then onto Europe if the Old Gal will allow it! Since coming to Lincolnshire, we have repaired the floor which was badly rotted, removed a shower tray, removed the sink unit and installed a wood burner/stove. There is still much work to do but we can do that while travelling. We have also remodelled the bed and are planning on making this more permanent. We have also laminated part of the floor. On the way back from I O W (the roads there are shocking!!), we had a stop on the A3 to do a maintence repair but since the cold weather she has not started again, so we have a few other things to try and hopefully we will be able to get away in the next day or so...fingers crossed the eh?! Thanks for the warm welcome! | Wed 15 Dec 2010 @ 20:32 |

Welcome Festival Mum. Glad you could join us. Any chance you could make me a whole new passenger side for a CF2 Panel van out of UV polymer? Just askin' ---------------------- | Thu 16 Dec 2010 @ 10:05 |

Wow - thanks again for even more lovely welcomes - what a nice bunch - love the polymer clay ideas and will seriously consider the earrings/fridge magnets, as for the whole cf side, might not be able to kiln it all in one go haha! We wont be moving again today - have been stranded now for over 3 weeks. She will still not start - we have fitted a new starter motor, cleaned and dried all the HTs, sparks, plugs and dizzy C, fixed the fuel shut off valve and adjusted the points, battery is fully charged, there is petrol in the tank and all should be ticking over nicely. I can safely say I am royally hacked off now. Only came back to my house (which has been rented out so we can't stay in it) for a few days to sort one or two things out with the van and here we sit.... | Thu 16 Dec 2010 @ 15:36 |

Hi Have you got a spark at the plugs, I had a simular problem and it turned out to be lack of voltage at the coil.If you put a tempory 12 volt ignition feed to the + on the coil it might start although you cannot leave it on otherwise it will overheat the coil but if thats the problem you can use the 12 volt feed through a switch and when it starts switch it off its worth a try. @ DAVEAD' yes we have sparks, now hunting for a fuel shut off solenoid although we are going to attempt to move without one. Might mean we have to wait an hour or so when we stop becaue of the flood/draining it may cause - we will see - I posted http://www.bedford-cf.co.uk/mboard/thread.php?id=9620 << | Sat 18 Dec 2010 @ 11:43 |

Fuel shut-off solenoid won't stop the engine from starting, just idling. If the carburettor has fuel in its float chamber then the choke still will pull fuel through the main jet & tip it down the engine intake. Quick & dirty check for fuel starvation bearing in mind the engine will be a bit cold at present: squirt ether (EasyStart) into intake when cranking the engine on the starter. If the engine fires then the sparks are getting to the plugs but if it won't carry on running then check for lack of fuel in carburettor. ---------------------- | Sat 18 Dec 2010 @ 12:47 |
