Hi, Just to introduce myself.

Hi, my name is Steve and I have a 1978 cf280 Camper van with coachwork by Johnson's of Birmingham. It was gutted and all the woodwork inside the walls was rotten. I'm part way through replacing it all and just wondered if there were any pitfalls to watch out for or common problems to be aware of. I would welcome any tips on materials, suppliers in the South, anything really! Aren't cfs just the best looking van out there, though? Especially when compared to modern stuff.;D

Welcome, Steve- sounds like you have already got your teeth stuck in to your new love- your greatest enemy will be the tinworm, followed by anything cursed with the name of Lucas!
Youll find the answers to many of your questions under 'search' (top right) - but if you still dont find the answers, just ask. Theres also a link to suppliers on the home page which is very useful.

Welcome.

And aye, lovely looking vans. I'm only caring for an 86 CF2 standard panel van, so quite modern and uncharming by comparison, but I love it to bits and for its own era it was by far the better looking van.

Not that I don't love Mk1 and Mk2 Transits, because I do, but the Bedford seems to capture the design archetype more completely I think.

Good luck with restoring yours, and pics of progress are always welcome here!
