Hi all

Hi,

i collect my first beddy on saturday (19th) its not far off a scrapper from what i can tell but mu plan is to bring it back to life.
I am not totally incopetant as i have owned and restored plenty of VW campers but the bedford is a completely new one for me so i will no doubt be needing a lot of help and advice

My van is a 1972 Dormobile freeway

Hi Besty. Welcome to the club!

Pics of the old girl* would be nice to see if you get around to taking some. Most of the vans are within rolling distance of being scrappers so you're in good company. There are lots of really helpful and supportive people on here and one or two who seem to have been born with intimate knowledge of every single component and possible problem you might ever encounter.

* old girl = your van.

Its tax free, so its already better than mine.

As for your other thread... you'll get the full run down from people what to check, what oil and petrol to use. Might not be until tomorrow night now though. It can be a bit quiet some evenings on here depending on what other forums you visit. I visit a few forums related to my occupation and they're a lot faster than here... I guess everyone here is wedged under their vans trying to fix them.

I will refrain from answering though as I only got my van 8 months ago and I know absolutely nothing about them. I just get in it and drive and hope for the best.

Hi Betsy we have a 72 also, the free tax is nice, but I would swap that perk for no fuel tax any day along, with millions of others no doubt. Good luck with yours It may still have many years left in it if you go easy and enjoy life in the slow lane !!

Hi and welcome, I am another ex VW owner. You will find it is much friendlier here than most and full of great info. Don't expect the availability of parts tho! Rocking horse poo about covers it!! My van has more holes than Tetley but is still worth doing, so good luck with yours!

Hey, nice example- I know the photos often dont show the full story but I think a good clean will do wonders!
Congratulations on the new arrival to the family.

She looks good to me. Bit crispy on the derriere for sure, but her sides look good down to the sills from the look of it.

Nice one. Van = saved.
